Gozan/ Five Hills

Five legendary mountains enclosing the city of Kyoto provide inspiration for this mellow, deep blending of cloves with the finest sandalwood.  Said to promote an air of calmness and contemplation. Gozan has earthy, grassy, smokey notes and would recommend for people who enjoy Ohja-Koh and Matsu-no-tomo (however Gozan leans more towards the smokey than spicy than these afore mentioned).

Approx 13.5cm Stick / 175 Sticks

Approx burn time 30min per stick.

Made by Shoyeido in Kyoto, Japan

Can easily be snapped in half and used in Incense Holder or as is in an Angular Vessel with Miyako Ash.

About Shoyeido:

In the early 18th century, Rokubei Moritsune Hata began incorporating incense-making techniques he learned as an employee of Kyoto's Imperial Palace. Twelve generations later, the Hata family continue to create an array of fragrances as Shoyeido. Their incense is considered the highest quality natural incense available worldwide.

Shoyeido's blending process is an art form and draws upon centuries-old recipes to create fragrances. The artisans carefully process the quality, balance, and ratio of every hand-selected natural ingredient. The slightest variation in amount or quality of any component can dramatically influence the outcome. Only the finest raw materials are used. The results are remarkable, subtle scents that encourage us to use all our senses mon-koh, or "listening to incense."

With respect for the environment and a concern for green practices, Shoyeido continues to set the standard in the fragrance industry. They have procured permits from the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry in Japan, and the US Fish & Wildlife Department to validate that their products are properly accounted for and responsibly harvested. None of their recipes contain animal products and no testing has ever been done on animals.
